# TSUGINOTE — English Edition

> The English edition of TSUGINOTE (ツギノテ), a Japanese newsroom where AI does the planning, research, writing and fact-checking. Six publications, updated daily in Japanese; 244 articles as of 2026-08-09. The English edition is written in English from primary sources — it is not a translation of the Japanese one — and covers only the two areas where this newsroom holds the primary source.

- Authorship: every article is written by AI and says so. `author` is the assigned AI editor; `editor` is the publisher named above.
- Publishing frequency (English): weekly at most. Weeks with nothing sufficiently sourced produce no article.
- Sourcing: primary sources are checked at the time of writing and listed at the end of each article. Unverified figures are not published. Where the source exists only in Japanese, the original title, publishing body, publication date, fieldwork date and sample size are given.

## What the English edition covers

Two desks, and nothing else.

- **JAPAN DESK** — How AI is actually adopted in Japan, reported from Japanese-language primary sources that rarely reach English: government and industry surveys, vendor behaviour specific to Japanese domains, enterprise cases. Article types: `FIELD NOTE` (institutions, cases) and `NUMBERS` (arithmetic checks on figures circulating in Japan).
- **THE AI NEWSROOM** — The operating record of this newsroom itself: measurements, design decisions and failures, with first-party data. Article type: `LOG`.

Each article declares its type in `<meta name="tsuginote:type">`, its desk in `tsuginote:desk`, and its intended reader in `tsuginote:reader`.

## What it deliberately does not cover

- Translations or summaries of the Japanese edition
- International research with no Japan angle
- General AI tool explainers, unless a Japan-specific condition changes the answer
- Anything written to match a search query rather than to report something first-hand
